Method 1: Measure the Backpack Volume with a Ruler & Backpack Volume Calculator

First, use a ruler to measure the volume of your backpack. The most accurate method to determine the volume of a backpack is by using a ruler. It can take a long time and is not always feasible with large backpacks. For this method to work, you will need to measure your backpack’s length, height, and width. Multiply the length, width and height together to get the volume of your backpack. The volume of a backpack that is 18 inches in length, 12 inches wide and 6 inches tall would be 216 cu inches.

Method 2:Measure the volume of a backpack using a measuring cylinder and stowing cylinder.

Many people use Volume = Height x Length. This is incorrect. This formula was designed to measure the volume of boxes. Most backpacks do not have a shape like a rectangular box. Backpacks are usually irregularly shaped. We are not concerned with the size of the bag. We are interested in the amount of storage space the backpack offers. It is possible to have a well-padded large backpack with a limited amount of space. If so, should we call it a “Big”, or “Small”, backpack? . We are concerned with the volume of storage in the bag. The space you have to store things. Does that make sense? . It’s easy to apply the method that I will show you. It is used by many outdoor and backpack gear manufacturers to determine the volume of their backpacks.

(1)We use a lot rice. If you do not have any rice, then you could use dried beans or Ping Pong ball. There are a lot of them.

(2)Fill up the backpack with a measuring cup

The backpack should be filled to the brim. Others use both the inside and outside pockets. It’s not really standard. The outside pockets could also be used to increase storage.

(3)Just add up the number of cups you filled with balls/beans

Count the amount of beans/balls you’ve put in the bag to find out the size. The volume of the bag is calculated by using a measuring cup of 1L and 20 cups filled with balls/beans. It’s simple, isn’t it? . The information I have provided above should be useful. If you would like to share any comments, please do so.
